Hannah Posner is a senior at a private girls’ school in New York City. She enjoys math, science and history. She is a cellist, a debater and very active in community service and science research. She has spent the past two summers at international dialogue camps; in 2013 she attended Global Youth Village with kids from Iraq and in 2014 she attended Seeds of Peace with kids from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Palestine, Israel, Jordan and Egypt.
Campers from Pakistan, Afghanistan and India didn’t open up at first. But after they heard me voicing my own complaints they realized I wasn’t going to look down at them or depict the U.S. as a perfect place for girls and women. That’s when the sharing began.
