(WOMENSENEWS)–With the world’s attention focused on the electoral process in Florida, the enormously successful effort of the Florida National Organization for Women and the state’s NAACP to get out the vote–known as “Arrive With Five”–has not been mentioned by any of the major national media outlets. This ground-breaking election effort by the two organizations to work together played a significant role in bringing out the Gore vote as retribution for Gov. Jeb Bush’s order ending affirmative action. Without Arrive With Five, the vote clearly would not be as close as it is at this writing: Bush had a 327-vote advantage over Gore.
