Opening the Way: Cell Phone Tour

Women's eNews has introduced a cell phone tour powered by OnCell Systems to bring an additional interactive experience to fans of women's history. The tour allows visitors to take the walk on their own by calling in on their cell phones and entering different stop numbers. Each stop number includes directions to that site, historical context about the woman it honors, and a quote from the historical figure, spoken by a contemporary woman leader. Visitors can choose to listen to all or select parts of the tour, and the content is available 24/7 at no charge.

The cell phone tour continues to expand and will include an increasing number of options to learn more about women of NYC in the near future.

Instructions:

1.) Dial 1-917-791-5004 to access the tour.

2.) Listen to an introduction to Opening the Way by Rita Henley Jensen, founder and editor-in-chief of Women's eNews.

3.) Enter the number of the stop which corresponds to the historical figure you would like to hear about.

Following is a list of the historical women, their tour stops, and their speakers (at the time of this release, italicized content is not yet available—but check back soon!). Marlene Sanders narrates background information and transitions.
