Jeannie Morris was a prominent Chicago journalist for more than three decades. Her bestselling book "Brian Piccolo: A Short Season" is best remembered for the 1971 film that followed, "Brian's Song." She earned 11 Emmys and numerous Illinois AP and UPI awards, as well as a National Black Journalists Award for her program "Air Jordan." In 2014, she became the first woman to receive the Ring Lardner Award.
