I am heartened that the city will go forth and honor these women. Crime against women in war is all too prevalent and needs to be brought to the forefront of news.

FYI – it was the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia that prosecuted the crimes in Bosnia. Unfortunately, the International Criminal Court (the permanent int’l court est. in 2002) failed to charge any sexual crimes in the one case it has prosecuted (Lubanga) despite much evidence and testimony revealing systematic sexual violence against women and young girls.Obviously, there is so much work still to be done. Thank you for this commentary.
