Caryl Rivers and Rosalind Barnett in their recent piece for WeNews were too dismissive of Anne Marie Slaughter's Atlantic article about the pressures of combining work and family. Slaughter expresses the pain of stressed-out young American families.

Thanks for such an honest piece. Those of us working at the intersection of motherhood and feminism are out here, just not as mainstream as we would like. I too was shocked at how much I wanted to spend more time with my daughter than the high powered job I thought I would have allowed. And you certainly won't find discussion of that by Hirschman or Bennetts. A great book on this is Maternal Desire by Daphne de Marneffe. I explore it in my own book too This is Not How I Thought It Would Be. There are some amazing thinkers and writers in this space, we just sometimes have to hunt to find each other. Glad I found you!
